Contacted LaCie about this but have yet to hear back. I'm convinced that this can be solved cleanly without any data loss. I hooked it all up. MacBook sees the external drive.
I get a Lacie set up icon on the desktop. Click it and I get password, do that and I get a bouncing arrow icon on the lower tool bar, then it goes away afte about two seconds This is for my MacBook Pro.
I have a mbp with retina display and is not reading my rugged lacie external hd connected via the 2 usb ports. The lacie model that I have is the gb one with the 2 firewire ports and one usb. When you connect it via usb you have to plug use 2 ports one for power the other for info. I'm trying that in the mbp retina and is not recognizing it. How do you connect it to the computer? I recently purchased two Lacie Rugged hard drives, a GB for client use meaning, it is given to clients to review raw footage and then given back to me where I then make edits.
How do I fix it? Will fixing it effect my GB drive? My Lacie external Thunderbolt drive won't index. No luck. I have an iMac and use a LaCie backup to, um, backup my files. I am confused over how to transfer my iTunes library from my backup into my MacBook Pro's iTunes library. I transferred all my files from my previous external HD. When I went to access my folders on my external HD, the folders are all locked, with Sharing and Permission section in the Information 'Everyone: Read' only!
I can't change any of the information or move things! All of them are locked and 'read only. The problem is that it requires external power. My external hard drive Seagate 1tb will not connect to my macbook. The last few weeks it's been acting up, it's been really hard to connect and it usually takes a few trys, it transfers files REALLY slow, slower than normal and sometimes it doesnt even transfer them, it just stops about halfway through.
I think I have a slight issue with my rpm gb seagate drive. Once or twice every hour it seems to stop and start up again. Kinda klicks.
It causes my computer to freeze for about 3 seconds. Whats causing it? Is it faulty? I should also mention that it didn't do this when i first got it. This is the model without the SMS. I'm banging my head against the wall with this problem. When I transfer files across my network or the office network , it will consistently fail to transfer a few of the files. For instance, I just tried to copy 50 photos to an SMB share on our server here at the office.
The transfer window show the progress of 50 files, but when I look at the folder, there are only 48 files. Sometimes I get less, sometimes I get all The same goes for my home network to an SMB share. I've confirmed this failure over N and G networks. The AP at home and the office are different models and I went as far as purchasing a new one for home since I thought it was the problem.

There is a very special feature about digital data loss: those lost files are not totally removed from the drive actually, they'll firstly be marked as inaccessible data.
Only when new data on your drive overwrites them will they be permanently cleared. To ensure the possibility of data recovery, you're strongly suggested to stop saving any new documents, songs, movies or other data to the drive.
Because they may overwrite the lost ones, which results in you can't get the lost files back. Still, the best way to avoid data loss is always making backup of important files on your Mac or other drive.
The answer is no. The precondition of using data recovery software like Recoverit for Mac to recover lost files from LaCie drive is that the drive can still be recognized by your Mac. Otherwise, there's almost no way to get back your data. Part 1. Find Your Drive and Scan It for Your Lost Data Then just choose the drive where you lost the data and turn to the top of the window to click the 'Start' button to start scanning.
Step 3. Check and Recover Files from the External Hard Disk Then the program will scan your drive and all files will be put into several folders.
